Fulton Hogan Civil has a full order book of challenging and exciting Heavy Civil and Structural Projects throughout New Zealand. In support of our operations, we’re looking for a Heavy Plant Field Mechanic to join our Team.
While the role is based at Ranui, Auckland we have projects throughout New Zealand. Repairs and maintenance are generally carried out at site so frequent travel can be expected for this role. Experienced in repairing Crawler and Rough Terrain Cranes up to 280tn, Drilling Rigs, Excavators, Generators is highly desirable.

As a proactive self-starter, you thrive working independently, responding quickly to get machinery operational, resolving issues as they arise, and ensuring our fleet remains in peak condition.
In addition to the above you will:
Look for diagnostics and faults of heavy machinery plant
Carry out repairs and routine servicing of equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, trucks, and cranes and other plant
Conduct scheduled maintenance checks and replace worn parts to prevent breakdowns
Respond to machinery breakdowns in the field, ensuring minimal downtime and prompt restoration of services
Maintain accurate records of repairs, servicing, parts usage, and job completion reports
We’re looking for someone with:
Be a Trade Qualified Diesel Mechanic NZQA level 4 or similar is ideal
Experience in heavy machinery, hydraulic experience work and with crawler cranes is ideal
Able to interpret Hydraulic and Electrical drawings and you can weld, and gas cut is highly desirable
Able to accurately record work details including logbooks, timesheets, maintenance check sheets and process improvement/non-conformance forms.
Strong communication skills and computer literate
Able to work at various sites and locations if/when required (flexible to travel)
Able to do overnights and be away for up to one week when/as required on few occasions
A high level of organisational and time management skills
The drive and passion to complete all jobs safely, to a high standard, in a timely manner.
