HGV Mechanic
With over 50 years’ experience in the logistics industry McCulla Ireland are one of the country’s leading providers of ambient, chilled and frozen logistics solutions throughout Ireland, the United Kingdom and Europe.
We currently have Operating Centres across Northern Ireland and Ireland, with further plans for expansion. McCulla has over 300 employees working across our Transport, Warehousing, Customs and Green Bioenergy Operations. There is an ever-growing modern fleet consisting of over 120 vehicles and 200 trailers operating our just in time service with environmental sustainability at the forefront of everything we do and making us unique in the market for our customers.
We are looking to recruit HGV Mechanic’s to join our inhouse maintenance team. This will involve carrying out a range of repairs and maintenance across our HGV’s, trailers and Biofuel Vehicles.
The Person
This role will require a punctual and reliable person, keen to work as part of a team and progress within a growing business. They should have a positive attitude towards work and be able to use their own initiative to carryout tasks and repairs across the fleet.
Duties
About The Role
• Maintenance and repairs across fleet of vehicles and trailers.
• Carry out inspections and corrective action when required.
• General mechanical repairs and fitting parts on HGV's & trailers.
• Fault finding and diagnostic work to identify root cause.
• Attend breakdowns and roadside repairs if required.
• Complete relevant documentation and records.
• Work in a safe manner at all times.
• Liaise with transport team and management on vehicle progress, parts and costings etc.
Criteria
• Level 3 qualified in HGV Repair or similar (such as Light Vehicle or Plant)
• 2-3 years mechanical experience on Heavy Vehicles / Trucks
• Excellent knowledge of vehicle systems and mechanics
• Working knowledge of diagnostics
• HGV licence desirable but not essential
Terms
• Full Time Permanent Role.
• Monday – Friday 7.30am – 5.00pm
• £18.00 per hour
• £19.00 per hour for Saturday hours, 1 in 4
• Up to 30 days annual leave.
• Matched employee / employer pension contribution.

Required Criteria

We at XPO are a driving force behind many industries in the UK. You have probably seen our trucks on the road networks, and some you may not have even realised were ours. But to keep our business ahead, we need a crack team of Vehicle Maintenance Technicians to service and maintain our fleet.
We’re looking for an experienced HGV Fitter/Mechanic to join us at our National Hub in Crick. You’ll work 45 hours per week on a Monday to Friday day shifts and play a vital part in ensuring that our fleet is always maintained, serviced, and safe.

We’re looking to offer the competitive hourly rate of £18.09 plus £1.39 location allowance and overtime at an enhanced rate. You’ll also receive holiday pay, access to a variety of high street discounts, cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension and many other perks including ongoing training and development.
What you’ll do on a typical day:
• Carry out MOT preparations, servicing and repairs on our fleet of HGVs
• Diagnose faults on vehicles
• Work on Rigids, Tractors and Trailers
• Knowledge of tail lifts an advantage
What you need to succeed at XPO:
• Proven experience in an HGV Fitter/Mechanic role
• Relevant HGV mechanic qualification, such as BTEC or City & Guilds (desirable)
• A full UK driving licence with C+E entitlement (desirable)
