Legit Works is a fast-growing AV, IT, and Automation integration company delivering high-end smart environments for commercial and luxury residential clients. We are seeking an experienced Home Automation Technician with a strong Control4 and/or Savant background to join our field team.
This role is automation-centric. Control4 / Savant programming, configuration, and on-site system support are the foundation of this position. All other systems, networking, AV, cameras, lighting, and security, are built around the automation platform.
The ideal candidate is someone we can confidently dispatch to a site to:
Program or modify an automation system
Diagnose automation-related issues
Integrate and validate subsystems (network, AV, cameras, lighting)
This technician will grow into a lead automation field role and be trusted to own systems end-to-end.
Key Responsibilities
Core Automation Responsibilities (Primary)
Install, configure, troubleshoot, and program Control4 and/or Savant systems
Use Composer Pro (or Savant equivalent) to:
Modify programming
Add or replace devices
Resolve client issues in the field
Deploy and configure:
Controllers
Touch panels
Lighting modules
Audio and video zones
Respond independently to dispatched automation service calls
Perform system testing, validation, and client handoff
Subsystems & Integration (Critical Support Skills)
Integrate automation systems with:
Networks (routers, switches, VLANs, Wi-Fi)
IP cameras and NVRs
AV systems (TVs, amps, matrices, audio zones)
Lighting and security platforms
Understand how network health directly impacts automation reliability
Troubleshoot issues across system boundaries (automation ↔ network ↔ AV)
Installation & Field Work
Perform structured low-voltage wiring (Cat6, speaker wire, control cabling)
Terminate, label, test, and document all wiring
Rack build-out, cable management, and system organization to Legit Works standards
Execute tasks based on scopes, drawings, and field instructions
Maintain tools, materials, and job-site readiness
Provide daily updates and progress reports to Field Operations
Required Skills & Qualifications
Hands-on experience with Control4 and/or Savant (required)
Ability to program or modify systems in the field without escalation
Strong proficiency with Composer Pro (or Savant programming tools)
Solid understanding of:
IP networking (IP addressing, switches, VLANs, Wi-Fi)
AV signal flow and multi-zone audio/video
Low-voltage wiring standards and best practices
Strong troubleshooting mindset and problem-solving ability
Professional communication with clients and internal teams
Organized, reliable, and self-directed in the field
Preferred Experience
Control4 and/or Savant certification
Experience with UniFi networks, IP cameras, and automation integrations
Lighting control, distributed audio, and security system integration
Commercial automation environments (restaurants, offices, gyms)
Experience acting as a lead or solo field technician
Requirements
Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or lifts
Flexible availability during project deadlines (evenings/weekends as needed)
Strong desire to grow into a trusted automation lead at Legit Works
Pay: $22.00 - $30.65 per hour
