Home Safe Program Survivor Advocate
REPORTS TO: Home Safe Program Assistant Director
HOURS: Full time - 36 hours per week. Monday through Friday, regular business hours. This position requires flexibility as onsite and remote days may shift based on program needs.
COMPENSATION: $32.05 per hour, non-exempt position

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides in-person, culturally competent, trauma informed services and prevention education to survivors of domestic violence. Main work site is in north Seattle. Some travel required to provide mobile advocacy.
WORK DUTIES:
Provides emotional support, safety planning, financial assistance, and individual advocacy for survivors of domestic violence.
Carry a case load of approximately 10-12 clients; (mix of shelter and Rapid Rehousing participants; numbers may shift)
Offer advocacy around public benefits, legal issues, medical care, mental health services, chemical dependency support, financial planning, employment and other needs.
Ensures services reflect agency efforts to promote equity and social justice.
Incorporate trauma-informed best practices and domestic violence prevention education into advocacy.
Provide crisis intervention and emotional support as needed.
Collaborate closely with Home Safe staff to ensure coordinated services.
Coordinate interpreter or ASL services for non-English speaking or deaf/hard of hearing.
Provide post-exit contact with participants when required by program needs or funding.
Provide mobile advocacy to participants in shelter and Rapid Rehousing
Provides post-exit contact with participants as determined by program needs or funding contracts.
Provide mobile advocacy to participants in the shelter and in Rapid Rehousing
Enter accurate, complete participant and service data into the agency database in a timely manner.
Submit timely, accurate expense information with documentation.
Respond to data needs identified by the Program Director or data staff
Maintains knowledge of community resources for the benefit of survivors.
Build positive working relationships with other domestic violence and service agencies.
Attend community meetings as requested.
Actively contributes to a positive team environment.
Participate in all staff meetings, Home Safe Program team meetings, planning days and agency training.
Attends and documents training to ensure compliance with Washington Administrative Code training requirements for domestic violence advocates.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Commitment to the mission of New Beginnings and to supporting survivors of domestic violence.
Fluency in another language is strongly preferred.
Two or more years of survivor-centered advocacy experience (related experience in non DV settings will be considered).
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse survivors in a welcoming, culturally competent, supportive manner.
Flexibility and creativity in helping survivors overcome barriers to well-being and housing stability.
Valid Washington State driver's license and access to reliable personal car.
Ability to take initiative and maintain accountability while providing services in varied settings.
Strong crisis management and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to maintain participant confidentiality.
Networking skills with a broad range of community service providers.
Strong attention to detail and follow through.
Ability to represent New Beginnings professionally with partners and the broader public.
Effective use of supervision to support performance and growth.
Ability to engage in constructive self-care practices to manage secondary trauma.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at time.
