Job Description
Oversee the day-to-day and long-term operations of the Maintenance Department including the upkeep of all guestrooms, building exterior (facade, sidewalks, parking lot etc.) and both public and heart-of-house spaces. Assure regular maintenance is scheduled and completed on all hotel equipment including HVAC systems, electrical equipment, laundry facilities, boilers, and the mechanical equipment. Create and/or implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program with the goal of assuring perfect guest suite conditions for every guest. Lead and inspire the Maintenance team. Maintain and organize all aspects of the Maintenance Department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Maintenance Manager duties will include, but not be limited to the following:
Team Management
Provide leadership and supervision to team in a supportive and motivating manner.
Mentors Maintenance team through coaching, guiding, and training.
Undertakes regular check-ins, team meetings, performance management.
Participates in recruitment, retention, and oversees team performance management.
Building Maintenance
Conduct regularly scheduled property walks to assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the hotel’s facilities including all mechanical, boilers, electrical and HVAC related systems and equipment.
Prioritize and assign work activities.
Assign/complete all routine maintenance on public spaces, meeting rooms, heart of house, grounds, fitness center, laundry, and restaurant.
Assign/complete all repairs, replacement and renovation projects to offices and Associate work areas.
Empower team to respond and address issues as they arise.
Complete all necessary payroll and scheduling of the department.
Adhere to all required purchasing policies and controls, including, but not limited to, all outside contractor bids, budgets and schedules.
Follow prescribed safety procedures for personnel and equipment by the company and Health and Safety legislation.
Maintain adequate maintenance supply inventory.
Oversee and train fire and earthquake emergency procedures.
Other duties where required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Post-secondary vocational training, trade ticket, and/or completed trade courses required.
Proven ability to work independently and as a team.
Exceptional interpersonal skills.
General proficiency of Microsoft Office.
Strong organizational & problem-solving skills.
Strong understanding of building maintenance, and operations.
Certified in First Aid and WHMIS.
Knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration, boiler equipment, generator, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, painting, carpentry and finishing skills, kitchen & laundry equipment, energy conservation.
Strong knowledge in emergency procedures.
5 years with a hotel maintenance/engineering team.
Must be able to legally work in Canada
Ability to work varied shifts and open availability for on-call emergencies.
Salary : Negotiable based on experience. Posted salary at $85K> Will negotiate based on proven experience in similar role for this position.
