Job Description
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician duties will include preventive maintenance and repairs to all hotel equipment; including kitchen and mechanical. Provide assistance with guest room maintenance including plumbing, electrical and painting as required. Outstanding communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to make decisions in a fast paced working environment are essential, while ensuring to follow Glenmore Inn policies and procedures while on shift.
Specific Responsibilities & Duties:
• Display a “guest comes first” attitude, while maintaining a high level of professionalism throughout the hotel
• Ensure accuracy and attention to detail while maintaining accountability for the Maintenance department
• Take initiative and make quality decisions based on what is best for the guest, staff and hotel
• Handle maintenance concerns and issues in a timely, and professional manner
• To communicate pertinent information to the Maintenance Manager in a timely fashion
• Perform all noted and required daily maintenance duties and rounds, preventive maintenance tasks, and work orders
• Minor electrical repairs, including; ballast outlets, switches, lighting and wall outlets
• Minor plumbing repairs, including; toilets, sinks, and tap sets
• Assist as requested with maintenance projects, including; painting, dry walling, tiling, wallpapering, and other minor installations
Work with the Guest Services in resolving maintenance issues that affect hotel guests. Promote and participate in our Health and Safety Program. Assist the Maintenance Manager in varied hotel projects and other preventive maintenance needs as directed
Qualifications:
Two years experience with general building maintenance required. CPR, First Aid Certification an asset. WHMIS training. Must be able to frequently lift, carry and move equipment and other items up to 50lbs independently, and greater than 50lbs with assistance
Ability to climb ladders and work effectively at heights of up to 12 feet. Ability to work frequently in tight quarters or with various physical constraints; requiring prolonged kneeling, bending and standing ∙ Knowledge of and the ability to use various common hand and power tools
Literacy in English with the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions ∙ Pool operations certificate an asset.
Woodworking/Carpentry experience an asset.
Ceramic tile installation/repair experience an asset. Previous hospitality experience an asset. Motivated and team orientated. Proven attention to detail. Available for day, afternoon and weekend rotating schedule as needed (rotating emergency on call).
Full-time Shifts are 630-3pm, 130-10pm Monday to Saturday. Sunday +-530pm.
