The Houston Marriott Westchase is one of the largest full-service Marriott hotels in Houston. We offer over 604 renovated guest rooms and more than 40,000 square feet of event space, including the 10,000-square foot Grand Ballroom, two boardrooms and 18 additional meeting rooms. Overview
Houston Marriott Westchase Hotel is looking for a Kitchen Steward.

Position Summary: The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dishwashing areas, ensuring that all kitchen equipment, utensils, and dishes are sanitized and properly stored. This role supports the culinary team by assisting with food preparation, maintaining inventory, and ensuring a safe and efficient kitchen environment.
Scheduling: This is a Full-Time position that requires open availability to work various days, including weekends and holidays, both AM and PM shifts. Work schedules will change weekly to support operational demands.
Specifically, your primary responsibilities as kitchen steward include;
• Operate dishwasher equipment to wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, and pans in a timely and efficient manner.
• Scrub pots and pans; Burnish, de-tarnish, and polish silver.
• Clean kitchen and restaurant dining room areas, including mopping and removing trash.
• Ensure that all kitchen equipment and supplies are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained.
• Prepare, transport, and store cleaned service ware, service equipment, and display ware is designated areas.
• Assist cooks and servers with food prep as directed.
• Strictly follow all required cross-contamination protocols, company standards, and guidelines regarding cleanliness, organization and food preparation.
• Support other culinary staff and fellow kitchen stewards.
This list is not all inclusive, additional job functions will be shared during interviews.
Supportive Functions: The hotel functions seven (7) days a week and twenty-four (24) hours per day. Due to the seasonal nature and business hours of a hotel, candidates must realize it may be necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift to meet business demands. All associates are expected to perform any other duties as requested by management to support other departments and/or operational requirements.

Qualifications
• Good communication skills and work ethic.
• Ability to work well in a team and manage priorities in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Able to easily adapt to unexpected changes and follow instructions.
• Able to work in varying temperatures and noise levels, including exposure to hot surfaces and steam.
• Move food, equipment, carts, and tubs weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly.
• Capable of remaining in a standing position, either stationary or walking, for duration of shift.
• Capable of frequent and repeated lifting, bending, stooping, and extending arms fully, throughout duration of shift.
• Ability to observe and adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and company guidelines for food handling, cross-contamination protocols, and sanitation.

• Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred but not required
Grooming/Uniforms
• Specific uniform guidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as a part of the onboarding process.
