The Custodial Worker at Melwood Veterans Services is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities. This role involves performing various custodial tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning bathrooms. The successful candidate will be able to work independently with minimal supervision, utilizing their problem-solving skills to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness are maintained.
About the Position:
This position requires regular attendance and punctuality, as well as the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines. The ideal candidate will have six months training or experience in a related field and possess excellent communication skills. They will also be willing to participate in pre-employment criminal background checks, government security clearance checks, and drug testing for employment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of facilities, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting
- Empty wastebaskets and dispose of trash in a prescribed manner
- Clean bathrooms, ensuring they are hygienic and free from dirt and debris
- Utilize cleaning solutions and equipment to maintain a high level of cleanliness
- Maintain issued equipment, ensuring it remains in good working order
- Notify supervisor when supplies and equipment are needed to perform tasks
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Six months training or experience in a related field preferred
- Ability to lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds may be required
