Job description, work day and responsibilities
The Housing Assistance division of the Community Services Directorate (CSD) is responsible for the provision and management of public housing services in the Territory, in addition to homelessness services, community housing, housing policy and asset management. The Homelessness Services teamplays a pivotal role in ensuring people who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness in the Canberra community have access to high quality support services to assist in breaking cycles of disadvantage and homelessness.
The Housing Asset Assistance Program (HAAP) makes available public housing assets (properties) to eligible organisations across the social housing and human services system, to enable them to provide services such as community housing, crisis and transitional accommodation, or other supported accommodation.
The HAAP team has an exciting opportunity for a HAAP Officer to join the team. The HAAP Officer will work as part of a small team who manage social housing assets which are head leased to the homelessness sector. Tenancy and property management experience, together with Homenet experience will be highly regarded. Please see the position description for further details of the role.

Note: An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.
As the successful candidate will work with or are likely to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and young people, cultural awareness, the capacity to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is highly desirable for this position.
