At HSBC, we’re building the bank of the future, and you can be part of it. Join our Technology Graduate Programme and work with cutting-edge technologies to deliver digital-first banking for over 40 million customers across 60+ countries.

You can apply to one of four pathways: Software Engineering, Data Analyst, Cyber Security or Technical Business Analyst. Each pathway has a tailored development journey and experience, but every pathway will give you the chance to collaborate with colleagues from around the globe to make a positive impact across your two year graduate program.

During your time on the programme:

As a Technology Graduate, you’ll take on real projects supported by world-class training and mentorship. Your role could include activities such as:

Engineering Pathway:

• Design, test, and deploy innovative software and infrastructure solutions, from trading platforms to customer-facing apps, using tools like Python, Java, and cloud technologies.

• Lead the charge in optimising HSBC’s global systems for efficiency and scale.

Data Pathway:

• Transform raw data into actionable insights, using advanced analytics and machine learning to enhance customer experiences and drive business growth.

Cyber Pathway:

• Protect HSBC’s digital ecosystem by developing robust security controls, conducting cyber simulations, and managing risks in a fast-evolving threat landscape.

BA Technical Pathway:

• Bridge business needs and technical solutions, collaborating with technical teams to design and implement transformative change programmes that align with HSBC’s strategic goals.

Why Join HSBC?

• Be part of a culture that’s built on support, inclusion and innovation

• Start your journey with impact: You will get involved in real internal and customer focused projects from day 1. You could work with cutting edge technology, be transforming systems, whilst also making an impact through a mentoring program, an Employee Network or some outreach work

• Tailored Development: Start with a four-week global induction and access HSBC University’s 10,000+ digital courses, plus ongoing workshops and professional certifications

• Tackle real world technology challenges with global teams

• Build the life you deserve: Hybrid and flexible working are available at HSBC. Graduates have access to numerous health and wellness perks

• Competitive Rewards: Enjoy a market-competitive package, including private healthcare, a contributory pension, and opportunities to volunteer.

Who You Are:

We value your potential and perspective over your academic background.

You will thrive on this program if you are:

• Intellectually curious and constantly looking for new ways to hone your skills

• Communicative and resilient, taking changes in your stride and quickly adapting to new situations

• Eager to learn about the new technologies you can use to collect and store data and display outputs

• Clear about how and where you can contribute and take responsibility for your work and outcomes

• A natural collaborator, who’s always happy to speak up, enjoys building relationships and sharing ideas

• A strong analytical thinker, with a solid base of tech skills that you’re keen to apply to real-world situations

Where you’ll work:

Based in the vibrant city of Sheffield, our Technology Graduate Programme offers you the chance to work at the heart of HSBC’s UK technology operations. As part of our state-of-the-art Sheffield hub, you’ll collaborate with global teams in a modern, hybrid working environment designed to foster creativity and growth. Enjoy the city’s affordable living, green spaces like the Peak District on your doorstep, and a welcoming community that blends cultural diversity with a strong sense of local pride. With excellent transport links to London, Manchester, Leeds and beyond, Sheffield is the perfect base to build your career while making a global impact with HSBC.

Please note: This particular program does not satisfy the Home Office eligibility criteria for visa sponsorship. We therefore can only progress applications from candidates who can demonstrate that they are eligible to work in the UK without HSBC sponsorship for the full duration of, and beyond, the programme end date.
