Full job description
We are looking for a HSE Manager with solid experience on metropolitan road construction Projects in Melbourne. The successful candidate will have MRPV (Major Road Projects Victoria) experience in tier 1 and tier 2 construction companies in Victoria.
The candidate will be able to work in metropolitan locations around Melbourne, and ideally have:
Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) or equivalent and/or Certificate IV in Environmental Management or equivalent
Minimum of 10 years previous experience in the construction and/or civil engineering industry
Conducting and interpreting audits and reviews
Experience in developing, analysing, and reporting on complex project performance, compliance and/or non-conformance
In-depth knowledge of state legislative requirements and all Australian Standards relating to relevant scope of works
Knowledge of safety legislation, statutes, and ability to interpret any applicable laws or legislation relevant to Project
Proven facilitating and presentation skills, e.g., focus groups and workshops
Ability to effectively prioritise and manage time and workload
Intermediate to advanced computer skills
Effective interpersonal and written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated high-level decision-making, negotiation and influencing skills
Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve conflict in a high-stress environment
Responsibilities Include
Reporting to the Project Manager, this position will ensure project compliance with HSE requirements and provide guidance and support to workers in implementing HSE Management Plan/s, business management systems and client requirements. Responsibilities include:
Demonstrate a personal, visible commitment to Decmil's Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) requirements and performance
Coach and mentor operational and project teams to ensure understanding of their HSE accountabilities
Facilitate the HSE risk management process for the Project referencing statutory requirements, business requirements, current industry best practice, and lessons learnt
Facilitate the identification and assessment of potential health hazards and any required worker health surveillance/monitoring
Administer fitness for work testing in accordance with Health & Safety Management Plan
Support injury management/return to work requirements
Develop, maintain, and support compliance with the Project Health and Safety Management Plan and Environment Management Plan and sub-plans
Ensure HSE design issues are integrated into the Project construction risk assessment processes
Engage and manage Project subcontractors to ensure understanding and compliance with Project and business requirements
Lead / facilitate in the WHS consultation, cooperation, and coordination arrangements on the Project, including Pre-Start, Toolbox, WHS Committee etc.
Facilitate the development and delivery of Project HSE inductions
Identify minimum HSE training, competency, qualification, and licensing requirements for workers on the Project and ensure requirements are met and recorded before work.
