Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, the incumbent will be responsible for facilitating Human Resources services, policies and programs for the company. The Generalist advises and supports employees and business leaders on employee relations, policy interpretation, performance management and development, talent recruitment and strategy. They ensure commitment to strong health and safety practices and foster a sense of community within the company by collaborating with team members and offering support to all levels of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a comprehensive Health and Safety Plan to assist the organization in developing and optimizing a safe and healthy work environment.

Complete Health & Safety inspections, participate in meetings, address employee complaints and concerns.

Ensure up to date policy, certifications and compliance with Health & Safety standards.

Monitor, advise and minimize all health and safety risks in the workplace.

Coach and support employees and business leaders regarding concerns, complaints, policy interpretation, career planning, termination, performance management and recruitment strategy.

Develop, implement and monitor appropriate Human Resources and business policies, in compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements. Monitor legal and regulatory changes recommending corporate action/policy adjustments.

Cultivate company social culture through events such as the annual Employee Appreciation Day, the social committee and cultural events.

Design policies/procedures to generate diverse applicant pools and direct, coach and participate with hiring managers in recruitment and selection.

Manage full cycle recruitment including job postings, screening candidate resumes, conducting telephone interviews, in person interviews, completing reference checks and negotiating employment offers.

Complete employee onboarding and orientation process for all new hires.

Communicate details of the employee benefits and assistance program to staff.

Lead all company communications with temp agencies.

Consult and advocate with employees and internal business partners. Strategize on broad-based company-wide issues.

Manage the delivery of training programs and development experiences that enhance organizational effectiveness and meet developmental needs of the employee community.

Design, implement and monitor performance management within the company, offering support to managers regarding training, promotion, discipline and terminations.

Enhance Human Resource corporate structure, job descriptions & performance management system to meet HR compliance requirements.

Liaise with Senior Leadership and provide expertise when strategizing corporate objectives.

Complete various administrative tasks such as updating the company vacation calendar.

Qualifications and Skills:

Postsecondary education in a Human Resources program.

2-4 years of experience in a Human Resources role.

CHRP/L designation is considered an asset.

Strong working knowledge of all areas within HR including Labour, Employment and Safety Legislation as well as regulatory compliance.

Proficient in the use of office software including Microsoft Office and G-Suite.

Practical experience working in an HRIS system.

College level accounting mathematical ability with a focus on Excel use.

Exceptional communication skills both in written and verbal forms.

Effective problem solver, able to develop HR strategies and execute plans leading to improved organization effectiveness and business results.
