Position Summary:
Reporting to the Manager - Human Resources, the HR Co-op Student provides vital support in various HR functions. This position involves providing essential assistance in areas such as administration, recruitment, employee relations, engagement initiatives and more. The HR Intern is a versatile HR professional with a wide range of expertise and strong problem-solving skills, enabling them to work autonomously, take initiative, and make a positive impact on HR operations.
Responsibilities:
Data entry, document management, scanning and large volume of filing;
Assists the recruitment process such as job postings, screening of applications, conducting pre-screen interviews and assisting in coordinating interviews;
Drafts employment offers and conducts background checks;
Administration of HR records, including drafting templates, letters, and reports;
Assess onboarding and employee experience such as reviewing and optimization of the onboarding process to ensure a seamless experience for new hires;
Supports preparation of onboarding documents and process;
Offboarding administration and transition;
May assist with exit interviews and necessary paperwork;
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

This is a full-time temporary onsite role (In office) located at NWR's Sturgeon Refinery;
Must have a high attention to detail, be a critical thinker and be committed to continuous improvement; proactively seeking to improve processes and systems utilizing technology/tools effectively;
Must be a self-starter with a solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to work independently while supporting team initiatives;
Must exhibit confidentiality, professionalism, integrity, compassion, pragmatism, maturity and mental acuity;
Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to ensure the Human Resources department is seen and utilized as a resource;
Preference will be given to candidates who are in, or have completed, their second year of post-secondary education in a Business or HR related discipline.

The NWR refinery site is located in Sturgeon County north of Edmonton about 30 minutes. There is no public transportation, therefore applicants must be able to drive to and from the refinery.
This position is based on -site with no hybrid or remote working options.
This Summer student opportunity will be available from end of May to September.
