Job description:
Undertake ground water investigations and assessments on Flinders Island, King Island and Cape Barren Island.
About the role
Our Water branch is seeking a Hydrogeologist with a deep understanding of groundwater science to contribute to improving our scientific understanding of groundwater systems and their capacity to provide sustainable water supply for stock and domestic use on the Bass Strait Islands.

Undertake investigative work.
Examine the water balance, hydrogeology, extent, and quality of groundwater.
Provide authoritative advice and expertise.
Liaise with consultants, contractors, and local community members including farmers and landowners.
Office based in either Devonport, Launceston, or Hobart with travel to Bass Strait Islands as required (few times a year).

Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).

Period of appointment
3 years.

Essential requirements
A degree in environmental management, engineering or science relevant to the professional duties to be undertaken, as provided by a university.
Desirable requirements
A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
A current First Aid certificate.
4WD experience.
