Job Summary:
Under the supervision of t he HBO Technician provides hyperbaric oxygen therapy to all referred patients, administers and monitors oxygen therapy and works collaboratively with other disciplines at assigned center.
Primary Functions:
• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson
• Preparation of all patients referred for treatment [AT1] . Monitors patient’s condition and recognizes change for necessary intervention.
• Documents all care provided accurately and completely according to hospital and department policy, entering all treatment notes into the appropriate system(s).
• Provide patient and family education to include: assessment of learning needs, ability and readiness to learn; documentation of teaching activities; provision of instruction as appropriate.
• Collaborate with other clinical disciplines in developing plan of care
• Provide hyperbaric chamber operations and maintenance/cleaning as required
• Demonstrates and maintains competency in core and unit specific clinical skills. Maintains competencies, continuing education and certificates as required.
• In absence of front desk coordinator, schedules and registers patients for HBO therapy or wound care visit, utilizing software provided and in accordance with hospital policy and systems as required
• Participates in department quality improvement plan and assists in collecting data used for Quality assurance and education. Adheres to Patient Safety and Infection control procedures as outlined in the hospital’s safety manual. Demonstrates appropriate usage of hospital resources, supplied and equipment. Complies with all HIPAA and Privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures.
• Perform duties as directly by Program Director/Coordinator within scope of practice and other unit related duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Prior experience with wound care patients preferred. Basic skills in MS office, word, excel and outlook. Prior experience with an electronic medical record preferred
• Valid and current CPR from AHA
• EMT or related certification or LPN certification in the state in which the technician will work. CHT trained/certified preferred.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support. Successful completion of approved hyperbaric oxygen therapy course within one year. 1 year employment in the outpatient department required.
• Occasional travel to other centers may be required. Overtime and schedule flexibility may be required to meet patient needs
