Position Overview: Richland Academy is seeking a passionate and experienced IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) Teacher to join our dynamic team for the 2026–2026 academic year. The ideal candidate brings a commitment to inquiry-based learning, a deep understanding of child development, and a collaborative spirit.
Qualifications:
Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) status required
IB PYP teaching experience and official IB training strongly preferred
Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional growth and student-centered learning
Passion for fostering student agency, voice, and well-being
3 – 5 years of exemplary teaching experience
Excellent organizational and time management skills
A passion for contributing to an innovative co-curricular experience for Primary/Junior students
A collaborative mindset, demonstrating inquiry-based decision-making and a willingness to work with fellow educators, staff, and the Head of School
Proof of a clear Vulnerable Sector Screening Report and a current Standard CPR/First Aid Level C certificate will be required prior to the start date
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement concept-based, inquiry-driven learning experiences aligned with IB PYP frameworks and Ontario curriculum expectations
Support transdisciplinary learning through co-constructed units of inquiry
Foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive classroom community
Use a range of formative and summative assessments to guide learning and document student progress
Engage families in the learning process through ongoing communication and documentation
Collaborate with colleagues to reflect on teaching practices and school-wide initiatives
Participate in professional learning, staff meetings, and community events
