About Walmart Overnight Store Maintenance
While overnight stockers fill the shelves, Overnight Maintenance Associates keep the physical store environment clean, safe, and sanitary — operating industrial floor scrubbers, cleaning restrooms, polishing fixtures, emptying trash compactors, and performing the deep cleaning tasks that cannot happen when customers are present. This position is essential for meeting health code standards, maintaining Walmart's clean-store reputation, and creating the fresh, welcoming environment customers expect when doors open each morning.
Position Overview
Walmart is hiring Overnight Maintenance Associates for the 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM shift at Supercenter and Neighborhood Market locations. You will operate industrial floor scrubbing and buffing machines, deep clean restrooms and break areas, sanitize high-touch surfaces, empty trash and compactors, and perform the thorough facility cleaning that happens exclusively during overnight hours when the store is closed or minimally trafficked.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate industrial ride-on and walk-behind floor scrubbing machines across the entire store's hard surface flooring.
• Deep clean and sanitize all customer and associate restrooms including fixtures, mirrors, floors, and supply restocking.
• Empty trash receptacles throughout the store and compact cardboard bales in the backroom baler and compactor.
• Sanitize high-touch surfaces including door handles, shopping carts, checkout belt surfaces, and self-checkout screens.
• Perform seasonal deep cleaning tasks including window washing, ceiling tile replacement, and parking lot sweeping.
Qualifications & Benefits
Must be 18+ years of age for industrial equipment operation. No prior janitorial or maintenance experience required — Walmart trains on all equipment and cleaning procedures. Must work the full overnight shift and handle cleaning chemicals safely per SDS guidelines. Walmart offers premium overnight maintenance pay with shift differential, associate discount, 401(k), stock purchase plan, health benefits, and advancement into maintenance team lead and facility maintenance technician positions.
