Join Victoria's Youth Justice Precinct at Parkville.
Work closely with Custodial Operations to support the daily functioning and routines including compliance documentation and dynamic risk assessments.
Contribute to improving the outcomes of young people's futures.
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (Youth Justice) is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system in Victoria focussing on prevention, diversion, and early intervention as the most effective and fiscally responsible ways of reducing youth crime. Youth justice custodial centres accommodate young people aged 12-18 years who have been remanded or sentenced by the Criminal Division of the Children's Court, and some 18-21 year olds sentenced by Adult Courts to a youth justice custodial centre.

Youth Justice Custodial Services aim to engage young people in change by addressing their offending behaviour and equipping them with the skills required for positive community participation, within a safe and secure environment.

The opportunity

Ongoing, full-time position based at the Parkville Youth Justice Precinct but working flexibly across other Youth Justice Custodial Precincts (Cherry Creek & Malmsbury), where needed to respond to operational requirements.
YJW1 role: $60,295 - $77,430 per year plus super.
Maintain a safe and secure environment for an accommodation-based setting in a custodial precinct through the delivery of high-quality administrative support and compliance assistance.
Access, maintain and compile accurate entering of information into the client databases and registers, including handover and incident reports, ensuring attention to detail in daily records and adherence to department record-keeping procedures within a timely manner.
Provide direct care, supervision, safety and support for Young People in custodial facilities, supporting their personal development through monitoring, interacting and the modelling of appropriate behaviours.
Maintain a secure environment through searches and security checks, monitor alarms and conduct the application of physical restraints as required and exercise specific delegations and functions as detailed in the relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
Working as part of a team to provide support, advice and conflict resolution assistance with Young People, stakeholders, families and members of the community.
As an Incident, Isolation and Reporting Officer, you will be required and supported to complete the fully funded and provided Certificate IV in Youth Justice as a key component of your role.

To be successful in this role you will have:

Prior experience in systems or database maintenance within a regulated working environment desirable.
Strong competency in using administrative and data entry skills, Microsoft Office Suite, departmental databases and hardcopy records.
Current Victorian Driver's licence is desirable.
Current statement of attainment for the first aid unit HTLAID011 Provide First Aid, to be obtained prior to commencement.
You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
