Overview:
Join our team at Duncan & Associates, Barrister and Solicitors, an established law office serving Northern British Columbia. We are seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to support our busy practice.
Responsibilities:
-Maintain and manage a system of upcoming tasks on a daily basis (BF system)
-Review and maintain lawyers’ schedule, both for Court and office appointments
-Liaison with clients for scheduling appointments, requesting documents, advising of Court dates
- Prepare correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, experts, Court Registries, etc.
- Liaison with Court Registry staff for purpose of scheduling Court dates, referring questions concerning documents, etc.
-Draft Court documents in both Provincial and Supreme Court, including Notices of Family Claim, Notices of Civil Claim, Lists of Documents, Notices of Applications, Notices of Motion, Affidavits, Application Records, Orders, Interrogatories, Financial Statements, Notices to Admit (this list is not exhaustive)
-Attend with clients for the purpose of taking signatures on necessary Court documents (Commissioner for Taking Affidavits for British Columbia, as well as simply witness signatures on documents)
· Maintain a client list and review as required with lawyers
· Receive, review and catalogue client documents, including the scanning of documents
· Liaison with other staff Legal Assistants to ensure efficiency and consistency in office procedures and policies
Requirements:
- Previous experience in an office setting, preferably in a legal office.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.

Pay: $50,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
