Job Title - Head – India Payroll and Benefits Operations

Location - Bangalore

Role Description

The role heads the Payroll and Benefits Operations for Deutsche Bank Group in India with 6 legal entities engaged in global banking and financial services, with ~25+ tax entities, ~16000+ permanent headcount, ~20+ compensation/ benefit plans and ~++ benefit trusts. This role also leads Benefits Operations for US, UK, Ireland, Singapore and HK locations.

Your key responsibilities

Key Relationships/ Interactions:
• Global HR across various teams
• Global Finance, Legal, Compliance, Technology and Risk Functions
• Payroll and Benefits Vendors
• Statutory/ Regulatory/ Compliance/ Tax Officials
• Internal and External Auditors

Key Requirements:
• Leads all Payroll and Benefits Operations functional areas including payroll transactions, payroll governance, payroll internal accounting and benefits operations, ensuring transitions, delivery and performance as per the necessary service level requirements
• Responsible for setting objectives and standards to ensure effective operations including delivery of reporting, analytics, policy, communications, compliance, controls and assurance – is the signatory for Form-16 for the organization
• Building partnerships with senior leadership across stakeholder groups in implementing strategic objectives, and developing/ updating/ implementing organization-wide policies and procedures
• Closely works with the Head HR Payroll Governance – APAC, the HR Chief Operating Officer – India and Global Payroll Governance Community of Practice to ensure compliance to the organization's internal controls, policies and standards
• Manages vendor partnerships for payroll, benefits delivery, and tax and labour compliance, and manages vendor relationships including selection, negotiation, consolidation, setting service level expectations, putting up risk and control frameworks and ensuring oversight and prudent management in meeting the service requirements
• Manages operational risk matters, performs regulatory compliance and independent risk reviews, leads and coordinates end-to-end audit and control processes
• Engages with internal and external auditors as well statutory/ compliance officials such as labor officers, provident fund officers, income tax authorities, and banking/ delivery center regulators
• Manages escalations within the organization and also with external stakeholders for complex engagement issues while providing guidance and intervention to resolve grievances
• Responsible for conceptualizing, proposing, planning, designing, leading, driving, and implementing development initiatives for automation, consistency, accuracy and integrity
• Ensures production of monthly reporting for various control activities for performance review/ service review/ operations review including ensuring all vendor stakeholders provide updates in a timely and professional manner
• Leads a team of 15-20 Payroll and Benefits Operations team members comprising AVPs, Associates and Analysts and is responsible for managing, leading, coaching, mentoring and developing team members in order to optimize operational excellence and create a deeper bench of experienced talent
• Acts as a key partner and strategic advisor in delivery of the Total Rewards vision through superlative employee experience by partnering closely with other HR teams globally.
• Leads a team of Benefits Operations Specialists in delivering the Employees Benefits for India, US, UK, Ireland, Singapore and HK locations

Your skills and experience
• Degree in Commerce or Financial Management
• 15-20 years post qualification experience as a Payroll and Benefits Manager/ Administrator
• Strong understanding of employment, corporate and tax laws, regulatory and statutory reporting requirements, and global and local accounting standards
• Strong understanding of key technologies, data and information technology standards including security standards
• Experience in engaging senior internal and external stakeholders including auditors, statutory and regulatory compliance authorities, and global vendors.
