The Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC) is seeking a confident, articulate individual to join our team as a Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship (SYA) Program Consultant. The successful candidate will promote apprenticeship and careers in the skilled trades by attending events, such as career fairs and parent nights, and delivering classroom presentations to middle years and high school students.

This position will be based out of the SATCC's Regina, Saskatoon, or Prince Albert office. The SYA Program Consultant will frequently work irregular hours and will travel extensively to deliver presentations, sometimes in adverse weather conditions, to rural or remote areas. A valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle is required.

Responsibilities:

As a SYA Program Consultant, you will report to the SYA Manager and support the SYA Program by:

Attending career fairs, try-a-trade events, and parent nights across Saskatchewan to share information on apprenticeships, the skilled trades, and the SYA Program;
Presenting to a variety of audiences that range in size from small classrooms to full auditoriums with hundreds of students;
Working in partnership with Saskatchewan Universities & Technical Institute Liaison (SUTIL) and attending their hosted career fair events from September - December;
Learning and facilitating virtual reality (VR) skilled trades simulations in classrooms and at career fairs;
Acting as a primary point of contact for high school teachers implementing the SYA Program;
Supporting teachers with student registrations, troubleshooting access to MyATC, and providing clarity on how SYA and high school courses connect to apprenticeship pathways;
Ensuring clear communication and offering ongoing support to facilitate successful SYA Program delivery in schools; and
When not participating in organized events, scheduling independent classroom presentations to middle years and high school students.
In order to succeed in this role, you will have the ability to:

Verbally and in writing communicate information to a variety of audiences that persuades, convinces, builds support, educates, and promotes understanding;
Deliver engaging presentations to middle years and high school students;
Establish and maintain a network of community contacts and professional relationships;
Work independently and as a member of the team to meet goals and objectives;
Effectively plan, prioritize, and balance diverse and conflicting workload pressures and deadlines to accomplish program goals and meet client needs; and
Create, format, and edit clear and effective written or visual materials using a variety of hardware and software applications and equipment.
Qualifications:

An Indigenous candidate is being hired for this position. The knowledge and skills for this position typically require a journeyperson certificate, knowledge of community, educational, and training resources available to clients, and/or a degree in education. Prior experience in public speaking and working with youth is an asset.
