The Opportunity
As an Information Specialist at the City of Perth, you’ll lead the City’s Access to Information services, managing Freedom of Information (FOI) applications end-to-end and supporting compliance with the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing (PRIS) Act.
Working across all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders, you’ll provide expert advice on information access while shaping policies, guidelines, and programs that enhance transparency and strengthen community trust.

Reporting to the Coordinator Information Governance within our Enterprise Information team, your responsibilities would primarily include:
Develop and deliver tailored FOI and PRIS training programs to build organisation-wide understanding and capability in information access processes.
Drive improvements to FOI and related processes through maturity assessments, audits, and business process reviews, including optimisation using the City’s EDRMS;
Manage the FOI service in line with relevant legislation, including stakeholder liaison and preparation of compliant responses; and
Conduct research and analysis, providing advice and specialist support to custodians on options and risks.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will possess:
Extensive knowledge and experience in required for FOI and PRIS.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, delivering high-level customer service to stakeholders at all levels.
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, making sound decisions in line with legislation and policies.
Flexible and resilient, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
