Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced In-House Legal Counsel to join our fast-paced startup. The ideal candidate will have 4-7 years of experience, primarily in the Indian lending industry, and expertise in both secured and unsecured products. You will handle legal filings, recovery notices, agreements, arbitration, and other legal matters.
Key Responsibilities
• Filing and managing cases under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.
• Handle legal matters related to both secured and unsecured lending, with a thorough understanding of the Indian lending landscape.
• Drafting, revising, and negotiating legal agreements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Manage debenture-related legal matters, including knowledge of secured and unsecured debentures.
• Send and respond to legal recovery notices for overdue payments, collaborating closely with the collections team.
• Represent the company in arbitration proceedings and provide guidance on dispute resolution strategies.
• Provide general legal advice to the business, focusing on risk management and legal recovery.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university.
• 4-7 years of relevant experience in the lending or financial services industry.
• Proven experience in handling legal recovery cases and working with collections teams.
• Strong knowledge of arbitration proceedings and dispute resolution in both secured and unsecured lending contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a high-paced startup environment.
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills for legal agreements.
Preferred Skills
• Prior experience working with legal recovery teams.
• Strong knowledge of Indian legal procedures in relation to financial recoveries.
• Proactive and able to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
