Job Description
The Inspector is responsible for verifying theworkmanship, materials, and processesof electronic assemblies to ensure full compliance with customer requirements, internal quality procedures, and applicable aerospace and space-industry standards. This role supports the manufacture of high-reliability hardware for small-space and satellite applications by performing detailed inspections throughout the build process, identifying non-conformances, and ensuring that all deliverables meet stringent IPC, NASA, and mission-specific requirements prior to release. This role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in a small team environment and enjoys a combination of technical craftsmanship and quality-focused work.
Key Responsibilities
Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of electronic and mechanical assemblies, including PCBAs, cable and wire harnesses, and related hardware
Inspect electronic assemblies to IPC-A-610 (Class 3) workmanship requirements
Verify soldering and assembly compliance to J-STD-001, including Space Addendum requirements
Inspect conformal coating (CCA) application for coverage, thickness, workmanship, and cure per customer and industry standards
Ensure product conformity to engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, customer requirements, and ISO / AS9100 quality system requirements
Review manufacturing documentation, travelers, and build records for accuracy, completeness, and traceability
Use inspection equipment including microscopes, calipers, micrometers, gauges, multimeters, and other precision measuring instruments
Identify, document, and report non-conformances; support corrective and preventive actions
Assist with root-cause analysis and continuous improvement activities
Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation in accordance with company procedures
Support internal audits, customer audits, and quality reviews as required
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve inspection findings and workmanship issues
Required Qualifications
· 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, electronics assembly, inspection, or a related technical role
· Strong working knowledge of electronic assembly processes, including SMT, through-hole, and hand soldering
· Proficiency with soldering techniques and ability to successfully pass internal soldering certification
· Demonstrated experience inspecting electronic assemblies to IPC-A-610 (Class 3) requirements
· Working knowledge of J-STD-001, including Space Addendum requirements
· Experience inspecting conformal coating (CCA) per customer and industry standards
· Familiarity with AS9100D, ISO 9001, and space-industry customer requirements
· Proficiency using high-precision inspection tools, including microscopes, calipers, micrometers, gauges, and multimeters
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and work instructions
· Understanding of root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies
· Strong attention to detail and ability to work with small, delicate, high-reliability components
· Ability to accurately document inspection results, non-conformances, and corrective actions
· Ability to successfully obtain and retain registration and approval under the Controlled Goods Program in accordance with the Defence Production Act and Controlled Goods Regulations
Education
3+ years in an inspector role in aerospace, space, or high-precision manufacturing environment or equivalent work experience.
