Starting Salary
$8,1+6.30 per assigned course consisting of three workload hours. The rate for any courses requiring fewer or greater hours shall be prorated based on this standard.

Duties:
The Faculty of Education has openings for sessional instructors during Intersession / Summer Session in the Indigenous Led Teacher Education Program. This program is delivered in collaboration with Indigenous community partners and collaboration with community partners is expected in the planning and delivery of these courses. The courses are 5 day face to face intensive courses, supported with online and blended delivery. The face to face delivery will occur in the communities where the program is offered in Tla'amin and Nuu-chah-nulth territories. There are 4 courses to deliver this summer, within the following dates: June 20-July 3 in qathet. July 6-1+th (location to be determined). August 18-30th (2 courses, location to be determined).
EDTE 425 - Curriculum and Instruction: Physical Education
EDTE 427 - Curriculum and Instruction: Science
EDTE 42+ - Curriculum and Instruction: Performing Arts
EDTE 531 - Social Justice Issues in Education

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.
Required Qualifications:
PhD in a relevant area from an appropriately accredited institution or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current practical experience with K-12 education in British Columbia and deep experience with BC Curriculum design and delivery. Experience facilitating curriculum design and implementation in remote Indigenous communities, and willingness to teach in remote Indigenous communities. Expertise in Indigenous pedagogy. Expertise in culturally responsive assessment practices. Strong background in designing learning through both a culturally responsive and inclusive lens.
Experience and expertise in mentoring early career and practicing teachers and teacher candidates. Leadership in supporting and implementing the new reporting order with a focus on competency based assessment and communicating student learning.
