Job description
We are seeking an Accountant based in Charleston, South Carolina, responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations of a portfolio of captive insurance companies primarily in the Southeastern United States. This role involves close collaboration with a team of professionals to ensure compliance with financial and accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Preparation of financial statements for a diverse portfolio of accounts
• Completion of regulatory filings and premium tax returns
• Preparation of materials for annual Board meetings
• Reconciliation of loss and investment report data
• Oversight of cash management for assigned portfolios
• Support and compilation of financial information for captive audits/examinations
• Ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reports and regulatory filings

Qualifications
• Experience 2-5 years experience in preparing financial statements adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or related standards
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent industry experience
• Prior experience in captive insurance is advantageous but not required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
