Job Summary

We are seeking an Insurance Regulatory and Compliance Counsel to join our dynamic team in Melbourne, FL. This key role will support the company’s compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.

Role And Responsibilities

To excel in this position, candidates must demonstrate the following competencies:
• Analyze statutory and legal changes to assess their impact on all lines of business.
• Coordinate responses to market conduct examinations, consumer complaints, and regulatory inquiries.
• Manage the agent appointment and licensing process.
• Monitor state-specific laws and alerts to ensure compliance.
• Assist in implementing the company’s compliance program and identifying key risk areas.
• Collaborate on cross-functional compliance initiatives.
• Review and draft company contracts and agreements.
• Create and ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures.
• Document processes and oversee compliance with reporting requirements.
• Draft or revise memos and alerts regarding laws, statutes, and regulations.

Qualifications And Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• J.D. required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of legal practice experience.
• Knowledge of Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance is preferred.
• Experience with state insurance departments and regulatory matters is required.
• Membership in the Florida Bar is preferred.
• Familiarity with admitted and surplus lines insurance products.
• Strong understanding of insurance policy language and coverage interpretation.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong legal research skills.
• Highest level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism.

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to perform general office duties, including sitting, standing, and walking. Employees must be able to communicate effectively, lift light objects (up to 25 lbs), and use standard office equipment. Occasional bending, twisting, or reaching may be necessary.

Work Environment

The office environment is fast paced, collaborative, and results driven. An employee must be willing to work their regularly assigned work schedule, and in times of need, be able to work an extended schedule depending on company or departmental needs, project requirements, or customer demands.
