Job Description:
We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Interior Designer with a Mechanical Engineering background to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing furniture layouts, optimizing space, and ensuring designs are manufacturable at scale. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys blending creativity with engineering precision in the world of furniture and interiors.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and visualize interior layouts with a focus on modular/custom furniture design.
Create accurate 2D/3D technical drawings and space plans.
Apply engineering principles to improve product structure, usability, and production efficiency.
Collaborate with production and installation teams to ensure practical execution of designs.
Select appropriate materials, hardware, and finishes suitable for mass production.
Visit project sites for client meetings, site measurements, and supervision.
Prepare and manage BOMs (Bill of Materials), costing, and timelines.
Requirements:
Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering; additional training or interest in Interior/Furniture Design is a plus.
Strong knowledge of furniture joinery, hardware, and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, or similar design software.
Ability to create detailed production drawings and shop-floor documentation.
Good understanding of space planning, ergonomics, and material behavior.
Strong communication, teamwork, and project management skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in the furniture, modular kitchen, or interior project industry.
Familiarity with CNC operations, edge banding, lamination, or PVD coating processes.
Ability to design products keeping cost, aesthetics, and manufacturability in balance.
