Role Overview

The Interior Designer is responsible for developing, coordinating, and documenting interior design packages from concept through construction. This role requires the ability to produce and/or coordinate full interior drawing sets, including plans, elevations, details, and schedules, while also organizing and presenting design ideas to ownership.

This position works closely with the Head of Interior Design, who is based in New York City, and company leadership, based in Los Angeles, and requires strong communication skills and comfort collaborating remotely across time zones while supporting design-forward hospitality projects nationwide.

Core Responsibilities

Design Documentation & Drawing Production
• Produce and coordinate full interior drawing sets from concept through construction documentation, including:
• Interior plans and reflected ceiling plans
• Finish plans and finish schedules
• Interior elevations and wall sections
• Millwork, casework, and custom detail drawings
• Coordinate with architects to align interior drawings with base building and architectural sets
• Ensure drawings are accurate, coordinated, and suitable for permitting and construction

Design Development, Presentation & Coordination
• Develop interior design concepts in collaboration with the Head of Interior Design
• Organize, package, and present design ideas, material selections, and key decisions to ownership in a clear and professional manner
• Translate approved design direction into detailed, buildable documents
• Coordinate with consultants including lighting designers, engineers, kitchen consultants, and specialty vendors
• Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings related to interiors

Materials, Finishes & FF&E
• Specify interior finishes, materials, and architectural details
• Source, specify, and coordinate furniture, lighting, and decorative elementsaintain finish schedules, FF&E schedules, and specification documentation
• Coordinate with vendors and fabricators on pricing, lead times, and fabrication requirements

Construction Support
• Support projects during construction through site visits, punch walks, and field coordination
• Review installation for alignment with design intent
• Assist in resolving field conditions and design-related issues as they arise

Portfolio Checklist

Please submit a portfolio that clearly demonstrates both design thinking and technical execution. Portfolios should include:
• Interior plans and reflected ceiling plans
• Interior elevations
• Millwork and custom detail drawings
• Finish schedules and material palettes
• Examples of projects taken from concept through construction documentation
• Hospitality, restaurant, or commercial interiors (strongly preferred)
• Evidence of coordination with architects, lighting designers, or other consultants
• Renderings, sketches, or concept imagery (optional but welcome)

Candidates should be prepared to discuss their specific role and responsibilities on each project shown, particularly related to documentation, coordination, and presenting design ideas.

Ideal Background
• 3–5 years of professional interior design experience (hospitality experience strongly preferred)
• Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp (required); Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering tools a plus
• Demonstrated experience producing and/or coordinating complete interior drawing sets
• Comfortable presenting design ideas to ownership and senior stakeholders
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently while collaborating remotely
• Organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple projects
