Job Description

About Gallagher

At Gallagher, we protect what matters most. From securing some of the world’s highest-security environments to helping farmers manage their operations more efficiently, our technology solutions are trusted globally.

Our global headquarters and manufacturing site are proudly based in Hamilton, New Zealand. Here, our people-first culture and collaborative mindset set the foundation for world-class careers and meaningful impact across our global operations. As we continue to strengthen our international supply chain capability, this is your opportunity to play a pivotal role in our global trade strategy.

About the Role

We’re looking for an International Trade Compliance Manager to lead the establishment and ongoing development of our centralised trade compliance function. This is a newly created role with significant scope - shaping governance, improving master data integrity, and ensuring we meet evolving global trade requirements while unlocking opportunities that support commercial growth.

You’ll sit at the heart of our global supply chain ecosystem, partnering with legal, logistics, procurement, R&D, engineering, and regional operations to drive best-practice compliance and streamlined cross-border trade. Along the way, you’ll identify opportunities to reduce tariffs, strengthen controls, modernise systems, and embed consistent, audit-ready processes.

With one direct report, the Trade Compliance Data Coordinator, and broad influence across the organisation, this role blends strategic leadership, hands-on problem solving, and strong relationship management.

You’ll be the anchor point for global trade governance - setting direction, strengthening controls, and enabling teams across the business.

Your focus will include:

Establishing central governance for customs data, trade agreements, and global trade processes

Maintaining and optimising tariff and commodity code accuracy as the single source of truth in SAP

Embedding tariff classification and data requirements into R&D, NPD, procurement, and sourcing workflows

Partnering with Legal & Risk to uphold global customs regulations and manage escalations

Leading historic liability reviews and building audit-ready, fit-for-purpose controls

Driving continuous improvement across systems and processes, including automation and broker integrations

Managing key external relationships with regulatory authorities, brokers, and advisors

Building internal capability through training, guidance, and cross-regional support

Setting expectations, coaching your direct report, and supporting ongoing capability uplift

Coordinating incident response and remediation to ensure quick, transparent resolution

Contributing to wider supply chain initiatives that improve overall operational performance

About You

You’re someone who thrives in complexity and sees clarity where others see obstacles. With deep expertise in global trade compliance and a strong understanding of how data, systems, and regulation intersect, you bring both strategic perspective and practical know-how.

Ideally, you’ll have:

7+ years’ experience in international trade compliance or supply chain

Leadership experience in compliance, master data, or related functions

Strong working knowledge of customs regulations, tariff classification, and SAP master data

A track record of delivering cross-functional change and process improvement

Analytical strength and attention to detail

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Confidence navigating ambiguity, evolving regulations, and multi-regional demands

Working at Gallagher

At Gallagher, we’re committed to a supportive, family-friendly culture where collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement drive everything we do. We care deeply about our team’s well-being and work-life balance, creating an environment where people can thrive personally and professionally.

What we offer:

Flexible hours with hybrid or remote options (travel to Hamilton required)

Free on-site parking, a subsidised café, and great local eateries

KiwiSaver contributions on top of salary, plus annual bonuses

A fun, collaborative environment with team-building events, inspiring guest speakers, and regular team lunches

If you’re ready to shape the future of global trade at Gallagher and build a function that supports our growth for years to come - we’d love to hear from you.
