We manage the ICT platforms and systems that support the department’s core operations. Our team ensures these platforms are secure, scalable, and designed for long-term sustainability. We support innovation through DevOps practices and modern testing approaches, enabling faster and more reliable delivery of digital solutions. From Information Management to ERP Systems, and Web and Collaboration systems, we provide the digital foundation that helps staff work efficiently and deliver services that support the department.
The Intranet Team Leader plays a key role in the Web and Collaboration Systems Section by leading the delivery of a high-quality, user-centred intranet that supports how staff work. The role provides strategic and operational leadership for the intranet, owns the intranet vision, and leads a specialist team. Working closely with communications and business areas, the role uses user insight and evidence to improve content, design and the overall internal digital experience, contributing to secure, accessible and well-governed digital services.
This is where you play an important role.
As the Intranet Team Leader, you will:
Lead the development and delivery of the intranet roadmap and day-to-day operations, guiding strategic direction in partnership with the Director to ensure the intranet is user-centred, accessible and aligned to organisational priorities.
Lead and manage the intranet team, setting clear priorities, supporting performance and fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.
Provide subject matter expertise on intranet and internal digital experience, delivering clear, evidence-based advice to stakeholders.
Lead the operational administration of the intranet in SharePoint Online, including managing site settings, permissions, information architecture and configuration to ensure the platform is secure, reliable and well-governed.
Review and maintain agreed intranet governance, standards and ways of working, ensuring SharePoint Online administration and changes align with approved policies and controls.
Work closely with the Communications team and business areas to guide and innovate intranet content and design approaches, ensuring decisions are grounded in user needs and best practice.
Use analytics, user feedback and operational insights to monitor performance, address issues and drive continuous improvement of the intranet experience.
Please note that the merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.
Our ideal candidate will have:
An experienced digital leader who has successfully managed a complex intranet or digital platform and can lead, motivate and support a team to deliver high quality outcomes.
Someone with strong, hands-on knowledge of SharePoint Online, including modern pages, content management approaches and intranet information design, who is comfortable providing technical leadership and ensuring the intranet is well-structured, secure and governed.
Demonstrated technical capability in SharePoint Online administration, including managing site settings, permissions and platform configuration within governed environments.
A collaborative communicator who builds strong relationships with communications teams, content owners and stakeholders and can clearly explain ideas, influence decisions and engage senior audiences.
Someone who genuinely puts users first, with a strong understanding of accessibility and usability and a practical ability to apply user centred design to improve intranet content, structure and experience.
A thoughtful and evidence driven professional who uses data, analytics and user feedback to inform decisions and is confident in constructively challenging and advocating for better digital outcomes.
Someone who takes ownership of an enterprise digital service, with the judgement and discipline to manage day to day operations, competing priorities and risk while maintaining strong governance, accessibility and compliance standards.
