POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the BTG Program Supervisor and Manager of Education, the BTG Presenter / Culture Student Support Worker will plan and deliver culturally based programming within the Education Department. The role focuses on providing cultural education and supporting students’ cultural identities through presentations, traditional activities, and collaboration with schools and families.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Promote Inuit culture, language, and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ) principles across programming.
Plan and lead engaging, culturally relevant activities (e.g., qulliq lighting, cultural circles, traditional games).
Support the development of Inuktitut language skills in students and community members.
Create, maintain, and share cultural teaching materials for use with children and families.
Facilitate presentations in schools for both students and staff, enhancing cultural understanding.
Identify, schedule, and collaborate with Elders, guest speakers, and other cultural resource people.
Work closely with Cultural Educators, Student Support staff, and other departments to ensure effective and coordinated programming.
Assist Inuit students on their cultural journey through positive engagement and relationship building.
Ensure a welcoming, culturally safe, and respectful program environment.
Promote the BTG program in the wider community and maintain strong relationships with school partners.
Deliver programming in both English and Inuktitut, where possible.
Attend team meetings and contribute ideas for ongoing program development.
Support evaluation processes by encouraging completion of feedback forms and reporting findings to the BTG Program Supervisor.
Submit monthly reports and documentation as required.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
Demonstrate mental and physical stamina in meeting deadlines;
Demonstrate stress resistance and stamina in supporting students and stakeholders;
Physical ability to access three story building.
Regular, consistent weekly hours of work.
Physical ability to move throughout a three-story building.
High levels of interaction with children and youth—requires energy, patience, and strong stress management.
Mental resilience is necessary when handling safety concerns, communication challenges, or high-noise environments.
Compliance with Public Health Guidelines, including COVID-19 safety protocols, is required
Work regular and consistent weekly hours of work.
Will be required to work additional hours for specific programming aspects (e.g. weekends and evenings)
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Inuit descent preferred
Post secondary education in a related field an asset
Minimum one year experience working in a family oriented program
Fluency in Inuktitut would be an asset
Previous experience working with Inuit or Indigenous communities an asset.
Knowledge of the needs of Inuit children, parents and families
Some knowledge of Inuit and non Inuit community services and supports
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability to operate computer systems and relevant software
Strong organizational, problem planning, evaluation, fiscal management, and problem solving skills
Ability to work in a collaborative staff team environment
Ability to function in a high stress, high noise environment
Enthusiasm, flexibility, dedication and commitment to children
Medical certification of good health
Criminal records check in keeping with Inuuqatigiit Centre personnel policies and procedures
Drivers license an asset
