Function/ Department: Information Technology
Job Purpose:
Data Center Engineer is responsible install and maintain IT devices within the data center, ensure proper deployment and cabling, manage incidents, and perform preventive maintenance to optimize performance and minimize downtime, maintain data center infrastructure, ensuring high uptime and efficient operations, handle network troubleshooting, inventory management and compliance , ISP connectivity issues.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Installation and Maintenance: Install and maintain IT devices, ensuring proper deployment. Work with concerned teams for cabling and initial configuration.
• Incident Management: Record, report, and resolve Data Center incidents, including outages, service degradations, and hardware failures.
• Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular walkthrough of all racks and equipment to identify visual alerts and issues proactively report it to minimizing downtime and optimizing performance.
• Rack and Stack: Properly rack and stack devices, performing initial configuration steps.
• Tape movement : Support and coordinate backup tape movement and patching activities.
• ISP Support: Troubleshoot last mile connectivity issues with ISPs.
• Data Center Events: Respond promptly to data center events, ensuring swift resolution.
• Access Procedures: Authorize and monitor access to Data Center facilities, maintaining security through proper access authorization.
• Uptime Maintenance: Ensure infrastructure uptime of ++% and service uptime of 100% as part of the facility maintenance and monitring.
• Environmental Monitoring: Monitor environment logs for power and cooling sufficiency’s.
• Reporting: Create and review monthly operations reports
• Service Tickets: Accurately and timely create and update all service and incident tickets.
• Network Troubleshooting: Support any migration , upgrade and Troubleshoot physical network connectivity based on incident and change request.
• Inventory management : Keep track of all passive network components (cables , cassets , patch pannel, SFP etc) inventory
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal policies and standards and handle internal and external data center audits.
• Tool Proficiency: Demonstrate good knowledge and usage of the ServiceNow tool.
Education Qualifications:
Graduation: Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) / Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech)
Post-Graduation: Master of Science (M.Sc) / Master of Technology (M.Tech)
Experience: 5 - 10 Years
