Intro
Yumbah is proudly positioned as Australia’s leading aquaculture company. With operations across South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales, we sustainably farm abalone, oysters and mussels for both domestic and international markets, and also supply oyster spat to the South Australian oyster industry.
Driven by our core values of integrity, daring and teamwork, we are committed to supporting our people and delivering a sustainable source of premium seafood protein to our customers.
We are investing in technology and AI to drive efficiency, improve decision-making, and maintain our competitive edge in a growing global market.
About the Role
Based at our Kent Town head office in Adelaide and reporting to the Head of Finance, Information & Technology, this is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll own four key areas:
1. IT Vendor Management — KEY PRIORITY
Own all IT vendor relationships as the single point of accountability for performance, SLAs, contracts, and compliance.
Consolidate and centralise previously decentralised vendor arrangements managed independently across sites, divisions, and managers.
Lead procurement, contract negotiation, renewals, and vendor performance reviews.
Manage outsourced managed service providers (helpdesk, cybersecurity) and hold them to KPIs.
2. IT Cost & Asset Management — KEY PRIORITY
Centralise all IT expenditure, consolidating scattered spending previously managed by individual managers and sites.
Manage asset registers, licences, and subscriptions to eliminate duplication, waste, and shadow IT.
Deliver cost savings through vendor consolidation, licence optimisation, and procurement standardisation.
Own the IT budget, forecasting, and financial reporting.
3. AI Development & Automation — KEY PRIORITY
Design and implement AI-powered tools and automation to reduce manual effort and drive efficiency.
Deploy AI agents and workflow automations, partnering with business units to deliver measurable outcomes.
Evaluate emerging AI technologies and maintain an adoption roadmap.
Build internal AI capability through training and awareness.
4. Strategic IT Support — KEY PRIORITY
Support the Head of IT in developing the IT strategy, roadmap, and governance framework.
Provide research and recommendations for technology investment decisions.
Assist with project planning, delivery coordination, and executive reporting.
You’ll also oversee outsourced helpdesk and cybersecurity services and act as 3rd Tier escalation for complex issues.
What You Bring
Proven IT vendor management experience — contract negotiation, SLA oversight, and holding vendors accountable.
Experience managing IT budgets, asset registers, and software licence portfolios with a focus on cost optimisation.
Practical experience with AI tools and automation: AI agents, workflow automation, and prompt engineering.
Good understanding of AI concepts: LLMs, generative AI, AI agents, RAG, and responsible AI practices.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, Intune, and Power Platform.
Experience managing outsourced IT managed service providers.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Nice to Have
Experience with AI platforms such as Claude (Anthropic), Azure OpenAI, or Power Automate AI Builder.
Proficiency in Python, Power Query, or scripting for automation.
Familiarity with SQL, Power BI, or Azure Data Warehouse.
Exposure to ERP systems or project management methodologies (Agile, PRINCE2, PMP).
Relevant certifications: Azure Administrator, Microsoft 365, AI-900 / AI-102, ITIL.
Not the Right Fit If …
You’re primarily looking for a helpdesk or level 1/2 support role — service oversight is part of this role, but not the focus.
You have no interest in AI, automation, or technology strategy.
You prefer purely technical work with limited vendor management, cost accountability, or stakeholder engagement.
What We Offer
Competitive Salary commensurate with experience.
The opportunity to shape IT vendor strategy, drive cost savings, and lead AI adoption in a growing Australian company.
A role where you’ll make a visible impact, not just maintain the status quo.
Join a team driven by integrity, daring, and teamwork.
