Position Overview
The Technical IT Head is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the technical operations and strategic direction of the IT department within an organization. This role requires a strong combination of technical expertise, managerial skills, and business acumen to effectively lead and manage the IT team.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Strategy and Planning :
• Develop and implement the overall technical strategy for the IT department, aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, trends, and best practices to ensure the IT infrastructure remains innovative, efficient, and secure.
• Collaborate with other department heads and senior management to understand their technology needs and develop IT solutions to support their business operations.
IT Infrastructure Management
• Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, systems, databases, and hardware/software resources.
• Ensure the availability, performance, and security of the IT infrastructure through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and disaster recovery planning.
• Stay up-to-date with advancements in infrastructure technologies and make recommendations for infrastructure improvements and optimizations.
Team Leadership And Management
• Lead and manage a team of IT professionals, including system administrators, network engineers, database administrators, and support staff.
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members to foster a high-performance culture and promote professional development.
• Collaborate with HR for recruitment, onboarding, and training activities to ensure the IT team has the required skills and capabilities to support the organization's needs.
IT Security And Risk Management
• Develop and enforce IT security policies, procedures, and standards to protect the organization's data, systems, and networks from potential threats and vulnerabilities.
• Implement security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, encryption, and access controls, to safeguard sensitive information.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, vulnerability testing, and security audits to identify and mitigate potential risks and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Vendor And Budget Management
• Oversee vendor selection, contract negotiation, and relationship management for IT-related products and services.
• Manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources and adherence to financial constraints.
• Evaluate and recommend the purchase of hardware, software, and technology solutions that align with the organization's needs and budget.
IT Project Management
• Lead and oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
• Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, and allocate resources accordingly.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or issues, and take corrective actions to ensure project success.
Qualifications And Skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
• Extensive experience (10+ years) in IT operations, infrastructure management, and project management, with a focus on technical leadership and strategy.
• Strong knowledge of IT systems, networks, databases, security, and emerging technologies.
• Proven experience in managing and leading a diverse team of IT professionals.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to align IT strategies with the organization's goals.
