The Position
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This is a recruitment for an ITT IV vacancy within the Client Services Unit of the Office of the Chief Information Officer. Position is based in Carson City, NV and working under the Service Desk Manager. Provides support to all State agency's employees in the Client Services group and tasked with providing quality customer service by answering calls and providing one stop shopping for users by supporting desktop, network, hardware and software issues. Additionally, this position may be responsible, installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining Windows based desktop PCs, laptops, PDA phones, NHP/MDC tablets, mobile hand-held devices, servers, network equipment, and peripherals across the entire state of Nevada. Incumbents may also be charged with fixing PCs, monitoring the network and assisting with Service Desk user support. To Qualify
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, three years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR (for positions in the Network Operations & Support specialty ONLY) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of IT work experience in the upgrade or replacement of software and hardware components on networked workstations; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
