Job Description
Active Networks serves Sydney's North Shore and Northern Beaches community publishing 3 monthly community magazines with a total print run of 127,000 copies. We also offer businesses a number of inhouse digital products namely a news website, a Facebook Group and an E-newsletters. Our team of 10 is based in the modern Lifestyle Working Office building adjacent to Warringah Mall in Brookvale.
We are looking to employ a recent Journalism graduate to work with our team on the Peninsula Living and North Shore Living magazines and the Northside Living News website.
This is a part time, 24 hours a week busy role based in Brookvale
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Sourcing and writing articles on a broad range of topics, including local community and council news, issues and events, schools and interviewing local personalities.
Repurposing, proofing and editing content for our news website and Facebook groups.
Uploading, managing and scheduling content for our digital news website and Facebook groups.
Dealing with clients and advertisers, rustling up and writing innovative and eye-catching native advertorials
Attending community events on behalf of the publications
Meeting community members and leaders and maintaining local contacts
The ideal candidate will have:
A recent degree in journalism or at least three years' experience in a similar position
A sound knowledge of the Northern Beaches and North Shore area
A proven ability to present and package content in fun, informative and unique ways
Experience in writing advertorials, reviews, interviews
Experience in web and social media content production
