Journeyman Heavy Equipment (Weekend Shift)
Job description
Urban Life Solutions (ULS) has an exciting and immediate opportunity for a hands-on and experienced Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team in Calgary. Reporting to the Fleet & Facility Manager, this position will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing and providing repairs to our fleet.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate safety leadership and safe work practices at all times
Troubleshoot and service various maintenance, construction, and snow/ice removal equipment in both a shop environment and in the field as required
Utilize manuals and diagnostic equipment to perform work duties
Maintain work orders
Assist in the management of repairs
Use of Hydrostatic tools and equipment
Fabrication of engineered alterations
Use mechanical lifting devices and winches
Conditions and Characteristics
Working within both indoor and outdoor work environments; ability to withstand cold and hot temperatures, dusty and noisy work environments
Mechanical Aptitude
Considerable standing, walking, squatting, pushing/pulling, grasping, lifting and reaching
Some climbing, sitting and driving
Manual and finger dexterity as well as eye-hand and foot coordination
Ability to perform tasks involving heavy lifting/carrying of items up to 80lbs
Basic/Required Qualifications
Valid Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician
Minimum 2 years relevant experience in a similar role
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (Driver’s abstract will be required for verification upon hire)
Possesses own tools
Ability to manage tasks in a timely and efficient manner
Demonstrated willingness to learn and succeed
All successful candidates must provide a recent criminal record check as part of employment
Legally Authorized to Work in Canada without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with computer maintenance programs
Experience with commercial mowing equipment (Toro, John Deere, Walker)
Hydraulic AND Diesel engine diagnostic experience
Work Schedule
Friday – Sunday, 12 hours per day with occasional after hours work as needed

The base salary offered will be based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies, while also considering internal equity.

Pay: $40.00 – $45.00 per hour
