Job Description
The Jr. Sous Chef serves as Third-in-command of the kitchen: assist the Executive Chef, and Executive Sous Chef in supervising food quality, production and costs . The ability to quickly and authoritatively delegate tasks to kitchen personnel.
Both professionals are responsible for ensuring food and other ingredients used are fresh before using them. While sous chefs take on a leadership role, line cooks are typically responsible for one area of the kitchen, which may be to grill, fry, or handle vegetables .
What Does a Sous Chef Do? On a daily basis, a sous chef keeps the kitchen running smoothly .
