Job Description
Reporting to the Vice President, Commercial US West, the Specialist, Commercial Asset Management is responsible for identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities across assigned assets. Working closely with Operations, Finance, Legal, Trading, and external partners, you will drive asset performance, ensure contract compliance, and support short- and long-term value optimization.
You will be the primary commercial point of contact for assigned assets and counterparties, with accountability for P&L performance, commercial strategy execution, and stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
• Own and manage the commercial performance and P&L of assigned assets
• Identify, evaluate, and execute asset optimization opportunities (cost, revenue, risk)
• Lead commercial activities across internal teams (Operations, Finance, Legal, Regulatory, Environmental)
• Negotiate and manage commercial agreements (e.g., PPAs, commodity supply, service agreements)
• Manage relationships with joint venture partners, offtakers, suppliers, and regulators
• Ensure compliance with commercial contracts and proactively manage issues or disputes
• Monitor market and regulatory developments and assess impacts to asset value
• Provide commercial input to strategic asset plans, capital decisions, and operating strategies
• Support due diligence for potential acquisitions or development opportunities
• Lead or contribute to special projects across the asset portfolio as required
What You Bring
Education
• Degree in Engineering, Finance, or Accounting
• Professional designation considered an asset
Experience
• 4+ years in commercial, operational, engineering, finance, or analytical roles
• Experience in power generation, power markets, or deregulated electricity markets preferred
Skills & Capabilities
• Strong understanding of power markets and generating asset operations (ISO/RTO experience an asset)
• Experience with commercial contracts and negotiations
• Solid financial acumen (budgets, forecasting, financial analysis)
• Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex issues
• Strong communication, judgment, and initiative
• Comfortable working independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Working Conditions
• Location: Phoenix, AZ
• Work Model: Hybrid schedule
• Travel: Periodic North American travel required
