Responsibilities

The Event Manager plays a key role in shaping the public image of the Galivan Center by activating 3.5 acres of indoor and outdoor spaces with strategic programs and events that appeal to residents and visitors alike

The Event Manager will take the lead in planning, coordinating, and facilitating private and public events, ensuring each one is executed flawlessly

This role is perfect for someone who excels in managing logistics, fostering client and vendor relationships, and delivering outstanding customer service

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the venue's reputation by offering an increasingly diverse mix of events and activities with a focus on free, family-friendly, all-ages events and activities

This position typically works Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Given the variable nature of Gallivan Center events, this position is expected to work outside typical business hours and is encouraged to flex time as needed in order to facilitate event activities

Plans, develops, organizes, implements, supervises, and evaluates Gallivan Center events

Develops and implements effective marketing policies, procedures and planning related to Gallivan Center events

Develops and implements effective promotional plans

Assists in preparation and administration of annual budget, which encompasses purchases, revenues, donations, sponsorships, and capital improvements

Assists with evaluation and adjustment of annual budget as needed

Supervises program and event staff assisting in the planning and execution of events

Instructs and provides technical assistance to Gallivan support staff

Provides professional staff training on assignments given

Hires, disciplines, and evaluates hourly and seasonal staff on an event-by-event basis

Interacts with the City Administration and departments, businesses, convention and travel bureaus, community groups, schools, federal and state agencies, and others to promote events at the Gallivan Center

Develops objectives and implements marketing strategies for promotion of programs, daily events, and special events

Responsible for media coverage and public relations including promotions, advertising, marketing plans, and feature stories

Designs, compiles, writes, and publishes promotional literature, advertising proofs, newsletters, multi-page brochures, illustrations, and special events packets as needed

Establishes and maintains relationships with outside vendors and consultants

Assists in the development of bids, requests for proposal, and contracts

Proactively pursues new partnership opportunities for events and programming at the Gallivan Center

Leverages Gallivan Center assets to new and existing programming partners

Performs other duties as required

Exposure to stress as a result of human behavior, deadlines, physical labor, weather conditions and generating revenue to meet budget

May be required to work non-traditional hours

The Event Manager plays a key role in shaping the public image of the Galivan Center by activating 3.5 acres of indoor and outdoor spaces with strategic programs and events that appeal to residents and visitors alike. The Event Manager will take the lead in planning, coordinating, and facilitating private and public events, ensuring each one is executed flawlessly. This role is perfect for someone who excels in managing logistics, fostering client and vendor relationships, and delivering outstanding customer service. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the venue's reputation by offering an increasingly diverse mix of events and activities with a focus on free, family-friendly, all-ages events and activities. The ideal candidate will also have a passion for creating new and exciting programming opportunities and creating innovative marketing strategies to promote all Gallivan Center Events.

About the Team:

We are a passionate group of around 10 administrative, maintenance and operations staff and 25-30 part-time staff that strive to deliver excellent customer service solutions. We ensure all who visit Gallivan Center feel safe and welcome so that they may enjoy the beauty of this urban plaza, and the many and varied offerings found here each and every day. As an event and rental venue, our year-round, diverse offerings attract nearly over 1 million visitors each year. Here, you’ll find a collaborative, inclusive, and thriving place to work.

Work Schedule:

This position typically works Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Given the variable nature of Gallivan Center events, this position is expected to work outside typical business hours and is encouraged to flex time as needed in order to facilitate event activities.

Position Salary Range:

E27 – $62,37+/yr. - $85,156/yr.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Intermediate Excel proficiency: Data sorting and filtering, Pivot table creation and manipulation, and Conditional formatting.

• Experience with marketing and advertising campaigns.

• Networking skills: connected to and/or involved with the many and varied organizations that make up the programming community.

• Public speaking and presentation skills.

• Special event management experience.

• Experience in public speaking and public relations.

• Sponsorship sales experience.
