About the job:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design development:
- Create and develop original fashion designs that align with Valkyre's brand identity and vision.
- Research fashion trends, fabrics, and materials to inform design concepts.
- Sketch and illustrate design ideas, including detailed technical drawings.
2. Fabric and material selection:
- Source and select appropriate fabrics, materials, and trims for each design.
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain samples and finalize selections.
3. Prototyping and sampling:
- Work closely with pattern makers and sample makers to create prototypes of designs.
- Oversee the fitting process, making adjustments to ensure the perfect fit and finish.
- Review and approve samples, ensuring they meet Valkyre's quality standards.
4. Collection development:
- Develop seasonal collections, ensuring cohesion in theme, color palette, and style.
- Create mood boards and design concepts for each collection, presenting ideas to the team.
- Ensure timely delivery of designs and samples in line with the collection's production schedule.
5. Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the marketing and social media teams to provide creative input on content related to fashion design.
- Work with the production team to ensure designs are feasible for manufacturing and align with cost targets.
- Communicate regularly with team members to ensure smooth workflow and consistency across all design projects.
6. Quality control:
- Oversee quality control during production, ensuring final products meet Valkyre's high standards.
- Address any production issues and provide solutions to maintain design integrity.
7. Administrative tasks:
- Maintain organized records of design sketches, technical packs, and fabric samples.
- Prepare reports on design progress, collection development, and production timelines for management review.
8. Client and custom design work:
- Work on custom design projects for clients, ensuring their vision is realized through bespoke designs.
- Conduct client consultations to understand their preferences and create personalized designs.
