Junior Interior Designer
Job Description:
Amy Elizabeth Designs is a fast paced interior design firm located in Rochester, MI. AED is primarily a residential firm with occasional commercial projects. This position will include interior design work, CAD, studio organization, sourcing of furniture, fabrics, etc., as well as small tasks that need to be completed. The job requires a candidate who is team oriented, self-entrepreneurial and is willing and able to proactively identify work that needs to be completed. No standing around in this position, it is designed for those interior designers who are eager to learn and will not be afraid to jump in with the team and provide quick results.You will assist and support the interior design team and principal designer in any capacity that is needed.
The role requires experience in CAD, Photoshop and Google. A rendering software experience is a plus. The candidate must have great organization, administrative and communication skills. The associate must have a positive and energetic personality who is willing to take direction.
Duties and Responsibilities includes but not limited to:
Assist the Principal Designer with various design and administrative tasks related to all phases of high-end design from initial planning through project completion
Assist with preparation of proposals and proposal design packages for submission to clients
Assist in preparing client presentations and presenting
Ordering design elements of project
Track and coordinate client lead times, inspections, deliveries, and installations
Support the principal in the preparation and maintenance of interior design plan documents such as floor plans, elevations, schedules, specifications, templates, and shop drawings
Site visits with clients and contractors
Run errands, keep storage and resource library organized
Assist and learn the production of furniture & finish packages, along with cost estimating
Assists senior staff with verification of site details to support design
Assists in field surveying of client spaces
Corrects drawings red lined by others
Supports the team in collecting information for client assessment; may attend interviews, provide documentation support; developing skills working with project management tools, ie Mydoma & Asana
Required Qualifications:
Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture Degree
1-2 years experience working in residential design a must for this position
Proficient in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Google Drive and willingness to learn Mydoma, Asana and Canva. Rendering knowledge is a plus
Demonstrated skills in project management and with strong organizational skills and comprehensive follow-through
Professional and persuasive communicator who is comfortable communicating with clients, contractors and vendors
Meticulous attention to detail, highly organized and the ability to multi-task effectively while remaining accurate and consistent in all paperwork and data management
Demonstrated ability to determine relevance and prioritize tasks
Pro-active, positive “can do” attitude with eagerness to grow professionally and work within a small team
Passion for thoughtful design
Work with design team to develop design ideas
May assist principal designer in selecting fixtures and finishes
Under supervision, develops preliminary space plans

Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
