Job description
Our busy and growing firm seeks to hire an associate who is detail-oriented, communicative, and interested in building an employee benefits practice in a collegial environment. Although this position is available immediately, we will also consider current third-year law students interested in a permanent position.
Employee benefits law is a dynamic practice area, and this position involves transactional, counseling, and compliance work for health and retirement plans, as well as occasional litigation support. For example, associates assist with negotiating investment transactions and various types of contracts, drafting government filings and employee communications, and advising on emerging legal issues—such as mental health parity requirements for health plans. While ERISA and tax law are cornerstones of employee benefits law, they overlap with a variety of other areas, including labor, health, data privacy, mergers and acquisitions, securities, and administrative law. Associates can develop and follow their own interests within the firm’s practice areas.
MMPL prizes work-life balance and sets its billable hour goal at 1,400 per year, with bonuses available for attorneys who choose to bill more.
