Junior Textile Designer / Fashion Graphic Designer

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Junior Textile Designer who will play a crucial role in bringing innovative designs to life. This role blends creativity, technical skills, and collaboration to create textiles that align with the brand's vision and customer needs. You will work closely with the design team, production, and management to ensure that every design is not only visually appealing but also practical and of the highest quality. Roles & Responsibilities:
• Developing new design concepts; experimenting with colours, fabric and texture
• Good sense of colours and perspective
• Print development and placement on actual patterns of the garments
• Software and computer-aided design (CAD) programs to develop a range of designs
• Report to the design team and partner on projects from concept to post-production
• Collaborating with team members to select seasonal themes, make edits to line and create new concepts
• Extensive market research and presenting story, mood and colour boards and samples
• Liaising with clients and technical, marketing and buying staff to plan and develop designs
• Color reduction of prints to cater to seasonal palette, watercolours and other hand worked motifs
• Assist in sourcing fabrics and other materials at trade fairs, markets and antique shops
• Keeping up to date and spotting fashion trends in fabric design by reading forecasts in trade magazines and using internet resources

Preferred Skills:
• 1+ years of experience in the fashion design industry
• A degree in one of the following areas: Art and Design/Fashion/Knitwear/Surface design/Textiles
• Design skills and the ability to use computer-aided design (CAD) packages
• Must have knowledge of color reduction of prints to cater to seasonal palette, watercolors and other hand worked motifs
• Good eye for color, texture, fabrics and patterns
• Excellent attention to detail
• An interest in fashion and textiles, and an understanding of trends and materials
• Understanding and experience of using different textile processes and techniques
• Ability to work to deadlines and a budget
