About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a front-end developer to join the Directory team at Idox Software
Limited. Our Directory Platform is a mature platform that local authorities across England have been using for over 15 years to provide high quality local information, advice and guidance that supports young people, adults, families and carers to find the information.
As a Web Developer you will play an essential role in the development and deployment of a variety of customer website solutions on the Idox Directory platform. You will be joining a friendly, fast paced, experienced and supportive team.
If you have a passion for cross-device usability, progressive enhancement and a sound understanding of digital accessibility, website security and UX principles, we would really like to meet you.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a junior front-end developer to gain experience working for an international software, IT solutions and services, professional services or other technology business.

Key responsibilities
With the support of the Web Development team based in the UK and in Pune, work independently, effectively managing time and prioritising tasks while occasionally liaising with the support team.
Own small but complex tasks in the product backlog and deliver them to meet commercial and quality objectives.
Work with the Idox Directory platform configuration tools to add and configure features within customer websites.
Occasionally manipulate customer data using the Idox Directory platform.
Execute anything from small incremental website change requests to whole website makeovers to a specified pixel-perfect design.
To be successful, you’ll need to bring:
Demonstrable skills in some of the following technologies: JSP, HTML, CSS, JQuery and vanilla
JavaScript.
Experience in building and deploying high quality websites - sometimes to a tight deadline.
Understanding of good software design principles.
A passion for producing clean, maintainable, and extensible code.
Willingness to take ownership of tasks and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work well with others across multi-functional teams.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Good understanding of factors affecting SEO, WCAG accessibility compliance and website security.
Understanding of UX processes and design.
Awareness of the latest web technologies and a perpetual desire to learn.
Additional desirable qualities:
Experience in a templating language such as TWIG.
Experience with web components.
Experience in website design using Adobe XD.
