Full job description
The role of the JV Pom Coach is to have a background in dance with the knowledge of techniques and skills. The coach will provide guidance and support to the pom squad, helping them to grow both personally and athletically. The coach will focus on improving the squad members’ skills, ensuring they are well prepared to perform while helping them achieve their goals. The coach will collaborate with both the Varsity Pom Coach and JV Cheer Coach. In addition to having a high level of knowledge in dance and coaching, it is ideal they will help the squad members keep a balance in all aspects of their lives, spiritually, socially, and academically. The JV Pom Coach will report directly to the Varsity Pom Coach.
The JV Head Coach is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Support of the Program Philosophy - The JV head coach will work with the varsity coach in supporting the program philosophy. All department philosophies including those of effort, teamwork and sportsmanship should also be shared with our coaches, student-athletes and parent communities.
Scheduling - The JV head coach will be responsible for scheduling and communicating daily practice space and logistics.
Practice - The JV head coach is responsible for preparing for daily practice with a written practice plan. The JV head coach is also responsible to attend practice and coach our student-athletes in proper and correct techniques.
Supervision - The JV head coach is responsible for coordinating the supervision of student-athletes before, during and after workouts.
Paperwork - The JV head coach is responsible for coordinating team forms for all student-athletes in the program.
Meetings - The JV head coach is responsible for planning and putting on a pre-season parent/student meeting.
Support of School Mission - The JV head coach is responsible for supporting the academic, spiritual and social mission of the school. It is expected that the JV head coach keeps abreast of students' academic performances. Finally, it is expected that the JV head coach supports the spiritual mission of the school by coordinating a program mass, prayer before athletic contests and a varsity service project.
Tryouts - The JV head coach will be responsible for administering a tryout period for their sport.
Game Day Responsibilities - The JV head coach is responsible for coordinating all game day responsibilities for their program.
