Te Tūranga | About the role
As a Kaihautū Cultural Park Ranger your role is to protect the mauri at Omanawa and restore the mauri and mana within McLaren Falls Park. The aspiration is that this role will provide a blueprint for bicultural park management across the takiwā of Tauranga Moana.
Some of the key outcomes for this position are:
Protect and restore the mauri of historic sites through the application of Mātauranga Māori.
There are strong links between TCC and the local community.
Parks infrastructure meets the needs of the community.
Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
Experience in park or land management.
Fluency in te reo Māori me ngā tikanga o Ngāti Hangarau.
Grounded knowledge of mātauranga Māori and the ability to coach and build this capability in others.
Experience in operating agricultural plant and equipment.
Current Full Drivers Licence (including experience and appropriate qualifications in the use of 4WD vehicles and quad bikes).
There is a requirement to work some weekends which is managed through a roster throughout the year. There will also be a requirement when rostered to work public holidays including Christmas.
