NGĀPUHI IWI SOCIAL SERVICES
The position works within the context of the Mana Ake – Stronger for Tomorrow initiative. The work is done under the NISS organisation and NISS is the employing authority.
Ngāpuhi Iwi Social Services, also known as ‘NISS’ was established to be a key service provider to Ngāpuhi, by Ngāpuhi while providing services and support to anyone within the wider community.
NISS was set up independently as an Iwi Social Service in 1996 and a year later was registered as a limited liability company. In 2006 NISS became a subsidiary of Te Rūnanga-Ā-Iwi-O-Ngāpuhi.
With offices in Kaikohe, NISS is one of the largest Iwi Social Service Providers in Aotearoa and access to their advice and services is free and confidential.
Purpose of the Position
The role supports tamariki, whānau and schools, promoting wellbeing and providing support when there are identified wellbeing or mental health concerns for tamariki years 1-8 at school.
Who we are looking for:
Level 4 minimum qualification or commitment to work towards this, and/ or experience relevant to health, Social Services or education.
Must be fluent in Te Reo as this position is for the Kura
Current full driver’s license.
Information technology and administration literacy.
Clearance under the provisions of the Vulnerable Children’s Act (2014).
Commitment to working effectively with Māori, Pacific, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities.
Good computer/ technical skills including the use of emails, internet and Microsoft applications (Move to technical skills).
At least 12 months experience in working in the field of mental health and wellbeing, child health, education or social support services.
Knowledge of child health services, general practice and NGO provider networks.
Developed networks and relationships within the health, education and social services sectors and the ability to navigate within these.
Experience in brief intervention.
