We have a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) opportunity for a Kaiwhakaako – Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to make a significant impact and develop their career in teaching, research and service. This role will also have a specific responsibility for teaching pharmacology and pathophysiology across the Nursing programmes in the Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences. We are committed to the integration of cultural safety into the delivery of our curricula.
We are open to expertise across areas relevant to our School and are particularly interested in applicants who will purposefully engage in the co-design and implementation of the undergraduate and post graduate nursing programmes. The department commits to a Te Tiriti curriculum with the successful applicant collaborating to kaupapa Māori and interweaving mātauranga aligned with the competencies of Te Kaunihera Tiaki Niho o Aotearoa. The Kaiwhakaako will contribute to existing mātauranga Māori and be supported to share mahi with other Māori working in this space.
We embrace practice-led, research-informed approaches to teaching. Your contributions to programme and course development will enhance our continuous-improvement focus. You will teach across programmes as assigned by the Head of School and be comfortable using digital resources to enhance learning. You will publish actively in your specialised field/s. We offer an excellent research environment with contestable research funds, and with guidance available from senior scholars. It is also expected that over time the successful candidate will seek and attract external research funding, engage with government, business, professional bodies and the community, and contribute to School/Faculty activities.

A PhD in a related health field.
Registered Nurse in Aotearoa New Zealand
Teaching:
An early career academic will ideally have at least some previous teaching assistant experience.
More experienced candidates will have previous lecturing experience, evidence of curriculum development and preferably experience supervising Masters and/or PhD students.
Research:
An early career academic will have the basis of a solid research pipeline and a job market paper available.
More experienced candidates will already have a more established research programme and a proven research track record with quality publications and ideally also success in external funding bids).
Evidence of proactively pursuing external research income is desirable. (Lecturers)
Evidence of securing or contributing to external research income is desirable. (Senior Lecturers)
